Summer in Ferrara - story of a riverside beach
Once upon a time, when it was very hot, people used to go to the Giarina (a beach on the river Po equipped as a bathing establishment that became the setting for perfect summer days). The Giarina was located along the course of the river in the section that passed through Pontelagoscuro. Here young people and families would gather during summer days to seek some fresh air, enjoy an excellent picnic lunch together and get kissed by the sun's rays.
Today the meeting point remains along the river but has moved to another spot: along the Darsena di San Paolo.
Summer in Ferrara - the Darsena of San Paolo
Recently redeveloped at the centre of an urban planning project to bring city life back to the river, the Darsena di San Paolo is part of the characteristic Quartiere Giardino.
Summer is the perfect time to fully experience the magic of this charming place: at sunset, when the sun paints the skies in warm shades, this area is transformed into a panorama to be immortalised. Food stalls and refreshment points are spread out along the river and musical events are often scheduled.
A walk along the Darsena becomes a true journey of the senses, allowing you to discover the authentic flavours of Ferrara's tradition.
The Darsena is also the ideal starting point for venturing out on exciting river cruises. The river boat 'La Nena' has been satisfying this desire for years.

CALICI D’ESTATE
1- 4 June 2023
A wine and food tasting with producers and wineries from Italy, taking place on the New Dock's waterfront. Four days dedicated to good wine among wine producers and many tasty gastronomic proposals, as well as tastings on board a boat in navigation.
UAIN FERRARA
13 to 25 June 2023
In this 2nd edition there will be 14 catering areas, located along the Darsena promenade, with very different culinary proposals. The wine cellars proposed both by the restaurants and by the cooperation of local representatives are also many, about fifty with over 200 labels. There will be wine tastings while sailing with the valuable support of the A.I.E.S. Delta del Po Sommeliers.
