Castello Estense
Let's start with the symbol and centerpiece of the city: surely it will have enraptured your eyes as soon as you cross the center. The Estense Castle surrounded by the moat offers so many cues for your beautiful photos. One setting, many different cues: the courtyard, the drawbridges, the moat, the interiors and the wonderful orange garden. The fortress will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the most fascinating and interesting places in Ferrara. You will be able to capture the places where the life of the Este family was spent by walking through their secret rooms. But you will also find a fantastic vantage point to observe our city from above.
Torre dei Leoni
Staying inside the Castle you will find the most impressive vantage point of the city. Well yes, an overview of Ferrara could become all business being in the middle of the Po Valley! But going up to the Torre dei leoni, an ancient watchtower, a splendid view will be waiting for you to compose your shots: capture the view on a beautiful sunny day, during a magnificent sunset, with the traditional fog blurring the outlines of the buildings... all the moments of the day will fill your shots with suggestion!
Rotonda Foschini and Teatro Comunale
As soon as you have finished your photo shoot in the wonderful surroundings of the Castle, you should definitely make a stop at the nearby Foschini Roundabout! This is a small oval courtyard inside the Municipal Theater, once used for the transit of carriages today a pedestrian area. Always very charming especially in the evening hours when the sun creates magical plays of light.
Via delle Volte
If you cross Piazza Trento e Trieste after a few meters, walking down the charming Via San Romano, you will cross Via delle Volte: one of the oldest and most charming streets in Ferrara! In the middle of the medieval center of the city, formed by arches and suspended passages. Here you will find a perfect setting to add a touch of mystery and romance to your photos.
City walls and Porta degli Angeli
Whichever direction you take from the center, sooner or later you will cross the city walls. The city walls, originally 13 kilometers long and now reduced to 9 kilometers, now form a large garden. Sant'Antonio Cherry Tree
Inside the courtyard of the monastery of St. Anthony in Polesine, you can witness one of the most splendid blooms in our city. The historic cherry tree gives a delicate burst of color every year in spring. If you are in Ferrara during this time, taking a photo of the event is a must, but the courtyard of St. Anthony's offers beautiful sights throughout the year!
