Luca Ward plays Ludovico Ariosto
On 9 December 2025, the 30th anniversary of Ferrara's inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the city will celebrate its Renaissance past with a special event dedicated to poetry and the great literary tradition of the Este family.
At 6 p.m., from the balcony of the Sala dell'Arengo in the Ducal Palace, overlooking Piazza della Cattedrale, Luca Ward will read an excerpt from Orlando Furioso, interpreting the figure of Ludovico Ariosto in a setting steeped in historical charm.
The event will be enhanced by musical accompaniment that will heighten the evocative power of the reading, offering spectators an evocative and deeply immersive experience.
Ward, one of the most famous voices in Italian dubbing, is known for having interpreted actors such as Russell Crowe in Gladiator, Keanu Reeves, Pierce Brosnan and Samuel L. Jackson. His participation pays tribute to Ferrara's cultural history and its Renaissance identity.
The calendar of events linked to the UNESCO anniversary also includes the new lighting of Via Mazzini, where verses from Orlando Furioso shine between the buildings, transforming the street into a luminous path dedicated to poetry and the cultural roots of the city.
