NUVOLARI GRAND PRIX

The Gran Premio Nuvolari is an event dedicated not only to motor enthusiasts but to all those who can appreciate the beauty and charm of antique cars, which carry with them memories of bygone eras and trends. Every year in mid-September you can watch beautiful vintage vehicles parade on the streets of the historic centre.

This event was created after the passing of renowned driver Tazio Nuvolari on August 11, 1953, which caused a great sensation in the motoring world, especially among the fathers of the '1000 Miglia'. Renzo Castagneto, Aymo Maggi and Giovanni Canestrini, the three who with Franco Mazzotti had conceived and created the ‘most beautiful race in the world’, decided that the great Lombard driver deserved a tribute and so they devised a Grand Prix with the same route as the 1000 Miglia, but with an extra stop in Mantua, Nuvolari's birthplace.
