Lets welcome the New Year at the Comunale

A classic is a classic because it is meant to be a guarantee: that is why we can safely say that one of the best ways to end the year is to enjoy a great play in the wonderful setting of Teatro Comunale.

From Rosalinde and her sentimental whims to the recklessness of Prince Orlofsky, the finely portrayed characters in Il Pipistrello will awaken in you an array of emotions that will have you attached to the plot from the very first second.

You will feel as if you are watching a parade of funny misunderstandings and characters, new and old, appearance and reality, creating situations in which it will be impossible not to identify. The story, the dances and the music will give you a feeling that this operetta, despite the time that has passed since it was composed, has an extremely up-to-date flavour.

Il Pipistrello (Die Fledermaus) was first performed in Vienna in 1874. It is a true masterpiece composed by Strauss based on a libretto by Carl Haffner and Richard Genée (based on 'Le Réveillon' by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy), which oscillates between comic opera, farce with music and melodrama with dialogue.

Strauss Jr.'s unique music, with his famous Viennese waltzes, will be live played by the City of Ferrara Orchestra, conducted by Marco Fiorini.

The production will be held on 30 and 31 December, but for the most anxious there will be a preview at the theatre's foyer on 29 December where you can meet the director Corrado Abbati.
