Il Giardino delle Capinere

A good walk in nature can be truly restorative, even when you are discovering a new city. We suggest you come and learn about the Garden of the Blackcaps: a green area located in the shadow of the ancient Este walls and managed by LIPU, the Italian League for the Protection of Birds. The Giardino is an area of about 10,000 square meters, which includes a Wild Animal Rescue Center, which takes care of more than 1200 animals a year and is equipped with 14 aviaries of various sizes and a pond of more than 300 square meters.

If you are a nature and animal lover, you simply have to visit this place! In addition to being set in a place where green reigns supreme, it also fulfils an important mission for the rescue and protection of native species.

Historical Notes

Open since the early 1990s, thanks to the collaboration between LIPU, the Municipality of Ferrara, the Province and the Region of Emilia Romagna, the Giardino delle Capinere is characterized by its function of protection and education of the flora and fauna. For many years now it has been involved in creating educational spaces and promoting initiatives to raise awareness of the environment.
By visiting this place you can help support LIPU's initiatives and help promote their mission as you follow an itinerary where you can learn about the characteristics of the wildlife heritage of our territory!
