Ferrara Among the Destinations of A SPASS: A Day in the Heart of the Renaissance
This summer, there is a new way to reach Ferrara and discover its remarkable historical, artistic and cultural heritage. The city of the Este family is among the destinations featured in A SPASS – Discover Romagna by Bus, a project running from 3 June to 10 September 2026 that offers organised excursions to art cities, historic villages and natural landscapes across Romagna and the Po Delta.
Among the experiences on offer is “Ferrara, a Renaissance Jewel”, a full-day itinerary dedicated to the city recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic centre and the famous Addizione Erculea.
A Journey into the Heart of Este Ferrara
Visiting Ferrara means exploring one of the best-preserved Renaissance cities in Europe, where history is woven into everyday life.
From the medieval atmosphere of the historic centre to the ambitious urban vision of the Este dukes, the city tells a story of art, culture and innovation spanning centuries. The Estense Castle, the Cathedral, Palazzo dei Diamanti, the ancient city walls and the elegant avenues of the Addizione Erculea are just some of the landmarks that make Ferrara such a unique destination.
Alongside its most famous monuments, Ferrara also offers a rich heritage of traditions, cycling routes, museums, historic gardens and neighbourhoods steeped in memory, such as the former Jewish Ghetto.
A New Way to Discover the City
The initiative is part of a wider project connecting the Adriatic coast, the Po Delta and many inland destinations through organised bus excursions. Its aim is to encourage more sustainable mobility while offering visitors new opportunities to explore the region.
For Ferrara, it is an opportunity to welcome travellers staying along the Riviera and introduce them to the city's extraordinary cultural heritage.
