Teatro Comunale, all the shows from October to December

PROSE, DANCE AND OPERA, ALL PERFORMANCES AT THE TEATRO COMUNALE - from October to December 2022

At the Teatro Comunale of Ferrara you will find several seasons and a very rich calendar of events divided between prose, opera and ballet, concerts and contemporary dance.

Let us discover together the first part of the season, until December 2022.

For Prose there are 18 titles on the bill from October until May 2023, including great classics, international authors and new dramas. After the debut with an incredible Merchant of Venice, the season continued with Matteotti Medley by and with Maurizio Donadoni.

Next up is Oylem Goylem by and with Moni Ovadia, who brings his best-loved work to the stage with the Moni Ovadia Stage Orchestra (25, 26 and 27 November). A cult show, an antidote against violence, intolerance and racism old and new, Oylem Goylem (literally 'The world is stupid') is a synthesis of storytelling, live music and laughter, presenting a fresco of the Jewish people as we have never seen it.

Sunday 11 December (4 p.m.) is Moments of Negligible (in)happiness with Pif and Francesco Piccolo. A real opportunity to let books speak, with the unmistakable voice of those who wrote them. The fun of living every moment, even those we would gladly forget.

This is followed by the performance Our Souls by Night by the American writer Kent Haruf, one of the great interpreters of contemporary American literature. Interpreted by Lella Costa and Elia Schilton (16-17-18 December), it is the sweet and courageous story of a man and a woman who, in old age, fall in love. How to manage and share their lives, dreams and hopes, even though society is not ready to accept their romantic dream?

And for Opera and Ballet lovers, the season offers the energetic Parsons Dance with the lively choreographies of David Parsons on 9 December, while on 18 November with Una goccia di Dino Buzzati, a tribute is paid to the great writer 50 years after his death with an unmissable performance between literature, music and visual art. The year 2022 will end on a high note - on 30 and 31 December - with the operetta Il Pipistrello by Johann Strauss, which will be presented in Ferrara in a brilliant new production by the Fondazione Teatro Comunale with the Corrado Abbati company. The music, performed live, is performed by the Orchestra Città di Ferrara, with concertmaster and conductor Marco Fiorini.

Organized by the Ferrara Musica Association, the 2022-2023 Concert Season features several appointments with outstanding artists and the best Italian and international orchestras, led by great conductors. There will be symphonic cand chamber concerts, with the addition of two exceptional events at Palazzo Diamanti, linked to the history and culture of Ferrara. The contents range from ancient to contemporary music, with a special focus on Girolamo Frescobaldi and Claude Debussy, to whom two in-depth focuses are dedicated. Also making a welcome return is the Chamber Orchestra of Europe with Sir Antonio Pappano and violinist Janine Jansen on November 28. On 14 December it will be the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova to contribute to the Ferrara Musica season with an evening dedicated to Mozart, with Andrea Lucchesini on piano as soloist. A prominent role is played as always by chamber music, which is the protagonist of several concerts.

The 2022/2023 season confirms a renewed and specific focus on the contemporary, as witnessed by the evening dedicated to Marcello Panni's Missa brevis, around which unusual pages such as Poulenc's Litanies à la Vierge Noire de Rocamadour and some pieces by Giovanni Gabrieli will be performed, in a special venue such as the Church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, recently recovered thanks to a major restoration project. The Coro Accademia dello Spirito Santo choir instructed by Francesco Pinamonti and the Banda Militare dell'Esercito under the guidance of its maestro Filippo Cangiamila will take part in this project.
