In the heart of Ferrara, Christmas Eve is illuminated by a truly unique magic with Il Presepe sull’Acqua – Natale Sub (The Nativity Scene on the Water – Underwater Christmas), a tradition that blends spirituality and spectacle in an extraordinary setting.

In the waters of the moat surrounding the Castello Estense, divers from the Ferrara Diving Group create an evocative torchlight procession, diving to place the Baby Jesus in the underwater nativity scene, accompanied by shimmering lights and Christmas melodies.

It is a moving and symbolic moment that celebrates the Nativity in an original and poetic way, transforming the Castle into a stage of reflected lights and silent contemplation.
