Some visitors step inside the Estense Castle and want to know everything about the Este family; others would rather hop on a bike and follow the city walls; some, faced with a plate of cappellacci, decide that tasting them simply isn’t enough and want to learn how to make them; and then there are those who look at the Po di Volano and wonder how different Ferrara must look from the water.

The InFerrara Experiences Catalogue 2026/27 starts from this very idea: there are many different ways to experience the city, with activities and itineraries to suit the way you like to travel.

If you want to discover Ferrara through its stories

You can start with the classics, but there’s no need to simply admire them from the outside. Guided tours take you inside the Estense Castle, through its old prisons and former court rooms, or to Palazzo Schifanoia, where the Hall of the Months tells the story of Renaissance Ferrara.

If you prefer to piece the story together as you walk, you can explore the historic centre on a walking tour or follow an itinerary through Renaissance Ferrara, taking in the Estense Castle, Corso Ercole I d’Este and Palazzo dei Diamanti.

If standing still isn’t your thing

In Ferrara, there’s one way of getting around that feels particularly natural: by bike. Among the experiences, you’ll find a route from the city centre to the Walls of Ferrara, through historic fortifications and green spaces.

For a completely different perspective, head to the Darsena. Boat trips depart from here along the Po di Volano and towards the River Po, and you can even enjoy an aperitivo out on the water.

And if you feel like going further, the catalogue also features a hiking route from Ferrara to Comacchio.

If you prefer learning by doing

You can step into a pottery workshop and get your hands on some clay, or focus on one of the more serious matters to tackle while in Ferrara: fresh pasta.

The food experiences include cooking classes dedicated to local cuisine and a workshop with a sfoglina, a traditional pasta maker, where you can learn how to prepare pumpkin cappellacci and cappelletti.

If you’d rather take home a different kind of souvenir, the photography walks combine a stroll through Ferrara with a private photo session, whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, with friends or with your family.

If you’re travelling with little explorers

With children, the city’s stories can be told in a completely different way. Activities for younger visitors turn history into games, clues and encounters with characters from the past.

At the Estense Castle, you can follow a Renaissance court lady or uncover curious stories about food at the Este court. In the historic centre, monuments and squares become stops on a tour filled with challenges and riddles.

Create your own Ferrara experience

You don’t have to choose just one version of the city. You can start the day on the Walls, continue with a museum visit and end it on the Po di Volano. Or you can build your stay around art, food or activities to enjoy as a family. Browse the catalogue and book your experiences
