THE EXPERIENCE

These are the protagonists of the events narrated during the guided tour of the Estense Castle, a defensive fortress in the Middle Ages and an elegant Estense residence in the Renaissance, a place of power, intrigue and passionate love stories. Visiting the Castle from the ancient medieval Gothic rooms to the prisons in the basement, we will know the compelling story of Don Giulio d'Este and the unfortunate love story of Ugo and Parisina Malatesta. Then the Renaissance banquet and the master chef Cristoforo da Messisbugo. We will go up to the main floor to the Garden of the Oranges, where Ludovico Ariosto and the court poets entertained the Este duchesses with their poems: Lucrezia Borgia,  Eleonora of Aragon, Isabella d'Este. We will visit the Ducal Apartments with the Camerino dei Baccanali, the wedding room of the Duchess Renata of France and her private Chapel, the Games Room with beautiful frescoes and the representative Halls, the so-called apartment of the "Patience", the Hall of Honour and the Halls of Mirrors.  The itinerary will conclude with the Cardinals' Apartments and the sumptuous Hall of the Coats of Arms and the figure of Pope Clement VIII Aldobrandini.
