In the last week of August, Ferrara’s historic centre changes its rhythm for the Ferrara Buskers Festival. Street musicians and performers from around the world turn streets and squares into one large open-air stage, with live music, performances and spontaneous encounters with the audience.

Founded in 1988, the Ferrara Buskers Festival brings street artists from around the world to Ferrara every year, turning the historic centre into a trail of music and live performance. As you move from one square to the next, you can come across musicians, acrobats, jugglers and performers whose shows take shape directly in the streets, drawing the audience into the experience.

The festival’s history also includes some memorable appearances: in 1989 Lucio Dalla performed in the street with his clarinet, while artists such as Gianna Nannini and Omar Pedrini have also taken part over the years.

Today the festival continues to bring together music, performing arts and different cultures, with additional activities and spaces to enjoy throughout the evening.
